Personable and humble, twenty-five-year-old Don is a participant in Simpson’s Youth Housing Program and a multifaceted, self-taught artist. He is a painter and sketch artist, a guitarist and composer. His self-expression extends to singing, rap, and writing poetry. “I love expression through art — art that can be consumed visually or audibly,” he says.
Cole, a 12th grade student from Hutchinson High School, has a heart for service and a gift for collaboration. Last fall, Cole decided to initiate his own service project. He brainstormed with his sister, and the pair decided on a blanket drive.

For 15 years, John Stevers has participated in the Minnesota Homeless Memorial March, honoring those who have died while homeless during the past year. The stories of people who have experienced homelessness strengthen his steadfast support of the march.

For years, I saw a line outside Simpson United Methodist Church in my neighborhood.

Simpson is honored to partner with the Minnesota Orchestra, an organization dedicated to enriching, inspiring, and serving our community through music.
The partnership started several years ago when small groups of Minnesota Orchestra musicians played music for guests at Simpson’s shelter several times during the year.
Eight-year-old Holtan wanted to help people experiencing homelessness. He also wanted to start a holiday giving tradition that would last throughout the year. Recalling the fun and meaningful experience his family had while serving two meals at Simpson’s shelter, Holtan decided to help guests at Simpson through a volunteer project.
