Simpson Community Shelter and Apartments

We are pleased to share the vision of Simpson Community Shelter and Apartments. Simpson’s board of directors and staff are committed to designing and executing a national best practice shelter model at the site of Simpson United Methodist Church, home of our current shelter. 

The low-barrier space will include 70 beds and 42 units of permanent supportive housing that can be replicated in the Twin Cities and across the nation.

Meet Hayley: Inspiring Self-Advocate and New Mom

Hayley, a participant in Simpson’s Family Housing Program, is a determined self-advocate and mother, devoted to the care of her 10-month-old son Travis. Before arriving at Simpson, she struggled with addiction and experienced homelessness for more than five years. She wanted a better life for her son and herself.

Volunteer Creates Shelter Each Other Pendant

Simpson volunteer and local artist T. Lee has handcrafted a beautiful Shelter Each Other pendant that creatively represents Simpson’s mission and supports our guests and participants in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Purchase a limited-edition Shelter Each Other pendant for $90, and $20 will be donated back to Simpson Housing Services.

We stand for justice, equity, and freedom for George Floyd

Dear Friends:  As we mourn the murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, we are overwhelmed by the raw emotions experienced by our community.

We grieve for a community member and valued human being, for his loved ones who shared their lives with him, and community members who knew what a kind and gentle presence he was to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Our mission to house, support, and advocate for people experiencing homelessness is directly connected to the fight against the white supremacy and institutional racism that plagues this nation.
