Sarah and Victor: A Family’s Story of Finding Home and Moving Forward

Sarah and Victor and their two children, young Victor and Aliyah have been with Simpson since January 2018.  Prior to Simpson, the family lived in a shelter for one year and had been without stable housing since 2016. After connecting with their Simpson Advocate, Jessica, the family secured permanent housing within one month.

Talisha finds “Blessings that wouldn’t stop” through Simpson

Talisha is a goal-oriented working mother, devoted to the needs of her four children. A year ago she and her family faced homelessness. Without a support system to fall back on, Talisha and her kids lived in a large Minneapolis shelter for nine months. Talisha found daily life in the shelter challenging.

Meet Shelter Guest Leroy

Leroy, a former guest in Simpson’s shelter program, has just settled into his new apartment in northeast Minneapolis, but it wasn’t long ago that he found himself among the rising numbers of senior citizens in our community’s homeless shelters. At 75 years of age, Leroy slept alongside men half his age. Leroy is one of 69 guests age 62 or older that Simpson has served in the shelter program within the past twelve months. Click here to read Leroy’s story.

The 8th Annual Art 4 Shelter was an extraordinary, record-breaking event!

Together, we raised over $116,000 for Simpson’s shelter and supportive housing programs, providing 3,315 nights of safe shelter for men and women experiencing homelessness.

We are honored the Minneapolis Institute of Art provided a welcoming and vibrant new home for Art 4 Shelter. Special thanks to the talented contributing artists who donated 1,900 original artworks.
