“During this past year, all my watercolor classes have been held on-line. I felt that it was important to keep a connection with my regular students during this time of Covid. Since middle March 2020, I have had a regular schedule of 3-4 on-line watercolor classes each week. The format has been a one-hour demo, followed by a critique session of student work for the week. This enabled me to stay connected with my students and what they were painting. It also meant that I have turned out a large quantity of demo paintings. 

This demo painting, Market Flowers, is from a scene at the Seattle Pike Place Market. It was painted in one hour to demonstrate how to build a mass of color to represent a group of flowers. We also explored how to create neutral darks to enhance the bright, pure hues of the flowers.”
